Maximalism, Candles, and the Whitneys
Camille and Sebastian Whitney got married in in November 2024, at the Inspiring Oaks Ranch in the Texas Hill Country. The vision for their DIY wedding was “more is more.” From Camille’s custom cathedral length black veil to the his and hers scents for the candle wedding favors to the photo backdrop hand crafted by the bride’s brother the Whitney wedding was one for the books.
Full disclosure, I have known Camille since 2008, when I was a high school freshman and she was an eighth grader. And I was so excited she and Sebastian wanted me to be a part of their special day, not just as a bridesmaid but trusting me with their custom candle wedding favors — which ultimately became their seating chart too.
The process for these candles began a few short weeks before they said ‘I do,’ when the three of us sat down to test scents. Camille wanted something cozy and autumnal and Sebastian wanted a musky, amber scent.

After mixing up eight test candles (four scents for him, four for her) they settled on a hers scent of cinnamon, apple, and amber. The his scent was our Lavender Haze candle, that has notes of amber, patchouli, and lavender.
From there I designed labels that matched their maximalist, DIY aesthetic. They had a few lunar elements that were reflected in the label, as well as using the font from their invitation suite.
For each of the 150+ candles maid of honor Rebekah wrote each guest’s name and table number. Not only did this create a unique and memorable seating chart, it also ensured guests took their candle wedding favors home and every couple or family took home at least one each candle scent.
